Redefining Life, Optimistically (Book Review)

Book: Inside The Heart of Hope
Author: Rishabh Puri
Publisher: Srishti Publishers

In life, nobody gets everything he or she desires. The one who can move beyond the limitations and make the best of what is available to him or her, has lived the life to the fullest. Instead of worrying about what you cannot do, relish what you have and redefine your life.

Reading the blurb, I was worried if the story will be about a depressed soul, with broken body and confidence, but thankfully, it wasn’t. Inside The Heart of Hope (IHH) is a story of life, in the sense, the narration and plot are very similar to what would happen in real life. There is no drama in it.  I am happy that the author has kept the story very real to life, rather than making it a sad sob. That's what gave it a fresh perspective and an interesting read.

IHH is not about some great inspirations or aspirations that the protagonist is struggling to achieve. It is a simple story of Rick, who is suffering from a critical health condition, which refrains him from living a normal life – a life that includes something as natural as running, jumping, maybe even fighting with boys in school. One can imagine the mental and emotional state of a child who cannot even experience the simple pleasures of life and not because he cannot afford it.

Rick makes attempts, to be and remain hopeful that his condition will improve and he will lead a normal life. He faces successes and failures and yet he is ready to fight all odds to achieve the life he had hoped to lead from the bottom of his heart.

All in all, the author has made a very good attempt with this ordinary story. Because, as they say, it is not extra-ordinary moments, but, ordinary moments that makes redefines life and makes it worth living.

My take-away: Irrespective of the situation life puts us into, how we react is completely in our controls. Life can be simple, inspite of complexities thrown into it.

My rating: 3.5 Stars

I received a review copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
